Day 4 Delos-Mykonos

Our day begins on the uninhabited island of Delos, one of the most famous archaeological sites in Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In antiquity, Delos was thought to be the spiritual and commercial center of the Aegean, as well as the birthplace of the god Apollo and the goddess Artemis. Follow your lecturer on a unique walk through of the site's best-preserved quarters, passing Hellenistic houses, beautiful mosaics, and the ruins of a temple dedicated to Apollo. Observe the famous 7th century B.C. marble lions, guardians of the Sacred Lake, and visit the island's museum. The most famous cosmopolitan island in Greece, Mykonos is known for its party atmosphere. Enjoy leisure time to visit ancient iconic landmarks or lively bars and nightclubs. Overnight in Mykonos.

Day 5 Santorini

Afternoon arrival in Santorini for an optional tour, at supplemental cost, of the capital city of Fira, followed by an excursion to the excavations at Akrotiri. Those who do not wish to participate in the optional excursion may use this time for swimming or independent exploration of this accessible city. Disembark by tender and board the cable car to reach Fira for a guided walk through the narrow streets. Board a bus for a scenic drive through countryside, passing the village of Pygros, to the famous archeological site of Akrotiri. The excavations have uncovered prehistoric settlements frozen in time by ash from an eruption some 3,600 years ago, including sophisticated multi-storied buildings, magnificent wall paintings, and elaborate drainage systems. We leave Akrotiri to tour the villages of Santorini, including the small, enchanting village of Oia. Known for its breathtaking view over the caldera, Oia is one of the most photographed sites in Greece. Enjoy some time at leisure before returning to the ship for an overnight sailing to Crete.
